Blogging has now become a form of therapy for me. It has helped me organize my copious amounts of thoughts and help me focus. At the same time, I’m really enjoying the fact that it has allowed me to discover many like-minded people who share similar interests, passions, and adventures in the world of wellness, running, fitness, and travelling.
An example to demonstrate:
Monday
I read a blog posting about Scott Dinsmore who leads a successful online business by showing others how to discover their passion and profit from it. He states, “We are all here to live our legend” as long it is “meaningful to us”. I visit his blog, and check out some of the resources he lists. Like me, he is connected with i2P. I follow him on Twitter.
Wednesday
Scott retweets the following from John Lee Dumas: “Listen to my podcast interview with Scott Dinsmore”. From this I discover EntrepreneurOnFire.com, the only 5-day a week audio podcast (with over 100,000 unique downloads per month!) that interviews today’s most inspiring and successful Entrepreneurs. John’s interview structure is brilliant. In 30 minutes he packs-in questions about failures, favourite quotations, books and visions (to name a few) from all these amazing people. I start following John on twitter & download a few of his podcasts on iTunes to listen on my way to work. I feel fired up after listening to them and put on my thought list “Contact John to see how he can help out with my RUN4AC project.”
Saturday
I construct an email that goes something like this: Thank him for his incredible podcasts and how sharing these with the world inspire others to achieve greatness. Tell him about my journey. Introduce RUN4AC and my ambitious vision to launch it globally.
After writing the email, I felt great that I had taken the time to reach out to him. In my head I didn’t have any expectations of when or even IF he would get back to me. But that was ok. Just writing the email allowed me to decompress and reflect on why I’m doing what I’m doing.
Sunday
Lo and behold, in my inbox was the following:
Joe,
Thank you for the kind words, and thank you for listening and engaging!
What a great cause you have taken the torch up for. I would like to help. I will donate a sponsorship and we’ll get some traffic headed your way.
Send me a 50 word promo when you are ready and I’ll slide it into an upcoming episode.
Keep Rockin Joe!
Prepare to Ignite!

I was overjoyed with gratitude that John got back to me and so quickly on top of it all! I’m astounded by his generosity to feature my RUN4AC on a future episode of his podcast. The impact of him doing this will be tremendous. RUN4AC will be featured as the sole sponsorship of an episode that will be available for download in perpetuity. Plus, it will be shared with a massive audience of dedicated listeners all over the world. My dream of sharing RUN4AC globally is already taking shape!
So what about you?
What projects or big goals are you working on?
What people can help get you there?
Are there any amazing inspirational people who can help endorse and promote your message?
Who is someone that you would love to reach out to but are doubtful they will respond?
I say CHALLENGE yourself to REACH OUT!
You really have nothing to lose. And who knows, you might be pleasantly surprised with a response!
Keep me posted on what happens, I would love to hear about it!
That is great news Joe! I’m so happy for you, that your dreams and goals are happening right before our eyes. You, my friend are an inspiration as much as the next person.
Keep aiming for the sky!
Joe, this is amazing! I commend you first of all for taking the time to let someone you admire know how much you appreciate their work ( so few people do this! ), and secondly for taking charge of your dreams and making them happen. Please let me know if there’s anything I can do to help you move this along 🙂
Thanks Danielle for your kind words! Small steps towards a big dream. I look forward to learning about your tips and tricks and leveraging your expertise in the world of blogging. I’m learning something new everyday about the blogosphere. Most of all reading the amazing conquests that fellow bloggers are pursuing is just incredible!
